EDP

Successful design firm to support talented students

edp_uwic.jpgTalented young designers at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC) are being supported by the highly successful Eastlake Group thanks to an exciting sponsorship deal announced at the Cardiff Design Festival.

The Eastlake Design Partnership (edp), part of the Eastlake Group, will be collaborating with UWIC’s Cardiff School of Art & Design to support, nurture and promote new design talent.

The partnership with design consultant and workplace strategy specialists edp sees them as sponsors for the New Designers exhibition in London in July - which is a very important platform for young designers to show their work, a placement scheme where selected students will carry out work experience at the Eastlake Offices, and a special award for students involved in a sustainability project.

Olwen Moseley, Director of Enterprise and Development at UWIC’s Cardiff School of Art & Design said: “We’re thrilled that edp, one of Britain’s most successful and innovative national companies, recognise the quality and talent of Patrick Hannay the programme director, his staff team and of course the Students of the Interior Architecture course here at the Cardiff School of Art & Design, UWIC.

“We highly value our relationship with the Creative Industries so the opportunity to work more closely with the Eastlake Group is most welcome.”

Catrin Howkins, Marketing Manager at edp said: “The Cardiff Design Festival has shown there is a wealth of exciting design talent in South Wales. Through working with the School of Art & Design, edp is trying to give students a route to getting their creative ideas translated into something tangible.

“At edp we think that good design should not only be attractive but also serve a purpose and make life easier. We are excited to be able to enable students the chance to make a difference to the day-to-day lives of individuals and businesses through their innovative ideas.”

The Eastlake Group employs more than 150 people throughout the UK and has a turnover of £34 million. From its refurbished offices in Barry, it has served clients including Cardiff Bay’s @Wales digital media centre, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, BT and the Nationwide Building Society.
